Look, sometimes it's fun to just play out something completely sappy and self-indulgent. So let's do that here! This meme is for fluff and hurt/comfort stuff, shippy or not; AU, game setting, whatever.

Prose or brackets welcome; prompts below are just for kickstarting ideas if necessary, so don't worry about those if you've got something else in mind or just want to work things out separately. Let me know if you want to start something here, since I have it set up not to email me.


① Cuddling → For whatever reason, characters feel like being close and cuddling.
② Pillow talk → After the main event, characters are up for some pillow talk.

Ginko's ears swivel toward the knock on the door, and he turns to face it more fully when he recognizes Ed's voice. Eagerness flickers across his face for a moment as he gets up from his table to go open the door, but-- something does strike him as kind of off.

When he opens the door, he suddenly knows what it is. He catches hold of Ed with a quiet, startled sound, pulling him inside and shutting the door hurriedly. He pulls him over to the couch, setting him down carefully to sit on the couch. "--Ed! Ed, what happened? How bad is it?"

Edward clings onto Ginko, growling faintly from the pain and leaning heavily on the larger man. "Rotans...fuckin' mobbed me in an alley," he groans. "Just need help patchin' up, I'll be alright."

He is so not going to be alright. Ed pretty much falls onto the couch with a pained whimper, clutching his arm to his side. He can't even think about pulling his wings in, it hurts too much to even try.

"They--"

Ginko swears under his breath, gritting his teeth as one hand curls into a fist for a moment. Nope, no, now is not the time, he's got to focus on helping Ed.

"Patching up is an understatement." He moves the thankfully short distance to grab his bag off its hook by the door, as well as the stack of wooden rods he's been accumulating for splints. Somehow, those seem to come in handy a lot here.

He crouches down in front of Ed, looking him over with a frown. "Do you think you could lie on your stomach? I want to deal with your wings first."

Now that Ed isn't moving or needing to keep moving, the pain and shock are starting to catch up with him. His breaths are shallow and harsh, and when Ginko speaks it takes a moment for him to realize what was said.

"I...yeah, I think so." He grimaces and shifts to lay down, another low rumble of a growl coming out from the fresh flashes of pain. Edward is forced to just grab and pull his wing around to keep from laying on it, gasping as the fine bones grind against each other. Even once he is laying down, he has to keep his arm propped beneath him to relieve the pressure on his ribs.

Ginko winces as Ed moves, his ears pinning back against his head at each sound of pain.

"Okay. Just... hang on, alright? This is going to hurt." As if he's not in enough pain already.

He takes a gentle hold of Ed's wing, feeling out the damage. Once he's figured out which bones are broken where, it's just a matter of adjusting his grip and jerking the bones back into alignment.

Ed just nods in response, gritting his teeth and gripping the couch cushion tightly. He manages to bite down on the sounds of pain until Ginko starts pulling his wings back into alignment, but even then it's more whimpers and pained grunts than any actual cries of pain. But his body communicates better than his voice just how much it hurts--each touch makes Ed flinch, and the slow process of splinting the wings makes him tense up further and further.

He puts Ed's wings together piece by piece, his teeth gritting with sympathetic pain and guilt, giving occasional murmurs of reassurance and apologies. Once he finishes that, he's quick to move on to Ed's arm and leg.

It's not until he's satisfied that all his limbs are properly splinted (he thinks. He hopes.) that he sits back on his heels, his tail lashing uncertainly, his mouth partway open like he's trying to decide what to say, if anything.

He stands up abruptly, handing Ed a couple pills. "...I'll go get you some water to take these with. They should help with the pain."

Edward only murmurs back an occasional 'It's fine' or 'Not your fault' while Ginko works, and once he's able to sit up again leans back into the couch with his wings folded very carefully to either side. There's no position that's without pain right now, but at least this way he can breathe a bit easier.

He takes the pills but waves it off when Ginko gets up for the water. "S' fine, I'll take 'em dry." He pops them into his mouth and swallows with a grimace--ugh, that always tastes so nasty--and starts pushing himself to his feet. "I--I should get going, 'fore it gets too late."

Because he's gonna get real far with two busted wings and a sprained knee, oh yeah.

It's a good thing Ginko hasn't left for the kitchen yet, because the moment Ed tries to get up he takes a gentle hold of his shoulders and sits him right back down.

"You're not going anywhere. You're in no shape to be trying to get back to Vandare."

Ed grunts when Ginko pushes him down again, frowning up at him with the tiniest hint of petulance and taking hold of Ginko's wrist with a shaky grip. "'M not that bad off. Can catch one of the buses going back."

"You shouldn't go back out!" His tone is a little more insistent, his tail lashing back and forth behind him. "Please, just-- just stay here for now, alright?"

His own tail flops weakly a few times before Ed sighs and slumps a little, bowing his head. "...if you're sure. I don't wanna be any trouble." Ginko has more important things to be doing than looking after his beat-up ass, but Ed doesn't have the heart or energy to argue the point right now.

"It's no trouble. Really." Ginko sits down carefully next to Ed, making sure not to jostle his wing or arm. "I just want to be sure you're safe."

Edward sighs and gingerly moves to lean on Ginko, resting his head on the troll's shoulder. "That's my job, you idiot. I'm supposed to take care of you."

Despite the fact that he lives in a different city entirely. That little pang of guilt hits his chest, and again he wonders if he shouldn't just move up to Bavan already. It's not like he can't fly to Vandare and back easily to keep working at the Nest. But actually bringing the subject up...it always makes him nervous to suggest it for some reason.

Ginko gives a soft snort and wraps an arm gingerly around Ed's shoulders. "Don't recall anyone saying it couldn't go two ways."

He pauses, then turns to look more directly at Ed again. "...Something wrong?"

Ed grumbles a little, but a faint smile tugs at his mouth and his uninjured hand lifts up to hold the hand Ginko has around him.. "Ass."

He shrugs with his good shoulder, wincing when even that movement sends a twinge down his wing. "Just...I dunno. Had something on my mind for a while."

He tilts his head curiously, his ears angling forward a bit. "...What is it?"

He doesn't quite know whether he should be worried or not.

Is now really the best time? ...but he's told himself that so many times already. Granted now might really be a bad time for it, but...hell, Ginko is asking.

"Thinking about, uh, movin' in up here. If you're alright with that." Edward leans a little more of his weight on Ginko, his eyes falling halfway shut. "I don't like feeling like I'm just...abandonin' you up here or something every time I go."

It takes a moment for Ginko to respond, instead just staring at Ed in surprise for a moment. Somehow, of all the things he had expected, that was most certainly not one of them.

"Of-- of course." He finally finds his voice again, his tail flicking sheepishly. "I'd, uh... well, that would be more than alright, actually."

"Really?" His ears twitch up and Ed looks up at Ginko with faint surprise. Though why he would be SURPRISED by that response is a mystery the world may never know. "Ah...m'glad."

On reflex Ed tries to fold his wing around Ginko, but the movement sends a stabbing pain through the breaks and he sucks in a sharp breath, gritting his teeth.

Unfortunately, Ginko doesn't get too long to enjoy the pleasant surprise of Ed's question. "Hey-- careful." His ears flip back with worry, but there isn't a whole lot he can do except to adjust the position of his arm to hold Ed more closely against him.

Ed lets out a low groan, closing his eyes and pressing his cheek to Ginko's shoulder while he gets his breathing back under control. There doesn't seem to be a single bit of him that doesn't ache to some extent right now.

Ed squeezes Ginko's hand after a few moments and cracks a fain grin. "M' always careful."

Ginko huffs softly and squeezes back, very gently. "That's a lie and you know it."

He chuckles and reaches to let his tail lie over Ginko's. "Didn't say whose standards I was using."

He gives another quiet snort and then falls silent for a few seconds, rubbing idly at Ed's shoulder as his tail twines around the minotaur's.

"...I'm glad you got away."

It probably goes without saying. But that's not going to stop him.
