Look, sometimes it's fun to just play out something completely sappy and self-indulgent. So let's do that here! This meme is for fluff and hurt/comfort stuff, shippy or not; AU, game setting, whatever.

Prose or brackets welcome; prompts below are just for kickstarting ideas if necessary, so don't worry about those if you've got something else in mind or just want to work things out separately. Let me know if you want to start something here, since I have it set up not to email me.


① Cuddling → For whatever reason, characters feel like being close and cuddling.
② Pillow talk → After the main event, characters are up for some pillow talk.
③ Celebration → Anniversary or some other big event is taking place and characters want to celebrate!
④ Love confession → Someone has finally decided to confess their love and today is the day!
⑤ Appreciation → You feel the need to show appreciation for that person closest to you, even if it's just a pat on the back.
⑥ Apologies → You made a mistake and now it's time to make it up in some way you know the other can't refuse!
⑦ Get back together → Why did you break up again exactly? Whatever the reason, it was a huge mistake and you both know you can work through it.

"Are you expecting me to say I'm joking or something?"

Ema would be offended if she didn't know Ginko so well.

[onegreeneye]

"Uh... maybe. Kind of. I guess not now." She's actually serious. He had kind of figured maybe she was, but he hadn't quite been willing to believe it, and--

And now he's getting nervous all over again. Nervous, bordering on terrified, because he does not want to mess this up. But... then again, he hadn't been sure he wasn't messing up to begin with just by bringing the idea up. And that went much better than he had expected.

He manages a very tentative smile, rubbing anxiously at his arm again. "It's... it's good to know you aren't."

[skyentologist]

"You look like you're overthinking it again."

Like he overthinks almost everything. Ema rises from the couch to get in Ginko's personal space.

"We already got the hard stuff out of the way."

[onegreeneye]

"I guess... hard to think of anything about this as being easy, though."

But he only hesitates to think for a moment, still uncertain, before leaning down to kiss her.

[skyentologist]

She smiles into the kiss, triumphant. Finally, back in a good place.

After a moment she leans back.

"I'm definitely not easy."

[onegreeneye]

"No; actually, you might be one of the most difficult people I know." It's meant fondly, and it shows in his voice.

[skyentologist]

Ema hides her smile in the crook of Ginko's neck, pulling in close.

"Guess we're a matched pair since you're no walk in the park yourself."

[onegreeneye]

He gives a quiet little huff and wraps his arms around her waist.

"Not sure whether I should think that's appropriate, or wonder how we've survived each other this long."

[skyentologist]

"There's been a lot less bleeding lately."

This is mumbled into Ginko's neck, before she kisses it quickly.

[onegreeneye]

"Mm. That's always an improvement."

His tail gives a slightly startled flick at the kiss, and he lets out another amused huff, turning to press his mouth gently to the top of her head, given that that's all he can really reach right now.

[skyentologist]

"I like what we've been doing instead. Way more fun."

She pulls back enough to give Ginko a grin and slightly ridiculous eyebrow waggle.

[onegreeneye]

Okay, that gets about the closest Ginko ever produces to an actual laugh.

"So I'm passable enough at this to rank above horrible injury. Good to know."

[skyentologist]

"It's taken some practice, but yeah. Just above getting stabbed."

[onegreeneye]

Ginko gives another wry laugh. "Going a little overboard with the flattery, aren't we?"

He adjusts his hold a little and leans down to kiss her again. "That said, though, I've got to agree on this being better than getting stabbed."

[skyentologist]

She kisses back happily, arms going around Ginko's neck.

"Doesn't mean we have to stop practicing, though."

[onegreeneye]

"'Course not." He lets his forehead bump lightly against hers.

Frankly, he doubts it would occur to him to initiate much on his own, but he's at least gotten better at picking up on when Ema wants to do something (rather than just looking confused and vaguely distressed as he tries to figure it out).

[skyentologist]

"So where are you taking me on our first date?"

First official date, at least. Ema's not counting their other... adventures.

[onegreeneye]

Ginko hums thoughtfully for a moment. He hadn't expected to get far enough for that to even be a question, and it's not like he knows much of anything about dating to begin with...

"...That depends. Where do you want to go?" Because somehow he's not sure Ema would like to just go hang out in the woods for a date.

[skyentologist]

"Dinner date's pretty simple. Nothing too fancy, though."

Ema's not really a fancy dress kind of person.

[onegreeneye]

"Works for me."

Ginko doesn't even wear shirts anymore. He's not sure 'fancy' would be an option even if he wanted it to be.

[skyentologist]

"Then we'll see how it goes. We always figure it out."

They just kind of... fit. Better than Ema ever expected.

[onegreeneye]

"Right. Worst-case scenario, we can always change plans." Like if they get kicked out or something. Who even knows, around here.

The more reasonable part of Ginko's mind is kind of starting to wonder why he had been so scared to say anything.

[skyentologist]

"Your plans always involve sitting out in the woods somewhere."

She's smiling against his neck, so it's obvious she's only teasing.

[onegreeneye]

He lets out a quiet sound of amusement, pointedly blowing a puff of air against her ear. "Why'd you ask me to begin with, then?"

[skyentologist]

"It's so you feel like you have a say in this. Or something."

That sentence got away from her.
