URBAN FANTASY POST

source
Who feels like playing out some urban fantasy garbage cuz I SURE DO
It’s pretty straightforward - I’m gonna (probably gradually over time) get my guys on here with a brief idea of how they’d work in this setting, here are some prompts and such, feel free to pick one or more or just make up a thing yourself!
Species
Please note that you are free to decide details of how your character ‘works’ - a ghost could be trapped on the mortal plane because of unfinished business or a curse, a vampire could have been bitten or it could be a genetic trait, demons could be naturally malevolent or some of them are just dicks. It’s up to you!
1. Werewolf - Big furry woofers. Pretty straightforward.
2. Vampire - Blood-sucking, darkness, maybe bats or mist or something is involved?
3. Fae - Probably going to be more of Seelie vs. Unseelie mischief-causing variety than cute little flying people.
4. Demon - Ow, the edge.
5. Ghost - Remember when that one animated music video was super popular for like a month and you couldn’t take two steps without tripping over fanart of it? Anyway, your character is dead.
6. Human - You all know how these work. Do I even need a prompt for this?
Scenario
1. Monster Hunt - Have there been some mysterious murders? Magical destiny? Or maybe you just really hate people with pointy teeth.
2. Occult Shop - Hey, witches and such have to get their supplies somewhere. It could be hidden somewhere or out in plain daylight, but something about this store probably feels a little off. Or maybe it’s just the smell.
3. Turf War - Is vampires vs. werewolves still cool? I don’t even know. The point is you don’t like them and they don’t like you and this is YOUR TERRITORY. Or maybe it’s theirs. Maybe the real territory was the friends we made along the way.
4. INVESTIGATION - Look there’s no denying that some weird stuff happens in this city, and some people are bound to want to figure out just what. Potentially regardless of whether they’re prepared for what they’re getting themselves into.
[[I’ll probably add more eventually I’ve been out all day and I’m tired right now]]

Well, pushing them to answer won't do any good. Ginko lets his head rest against the wall behind him and pulls his knees up to his chest.
"Doesn't strike me as the best place to wait in this weather, is all. Seems like most kids are gonna be home around now, huh?"
no subject
"It's okay. I'm...'m used t' th' cold."
no subject
After a few moments of thought, Ginko stands up and stretches. "Alright. Well, how about this. I'm gonna go get you a couple more blankets, and if you want to come sit in the store instead, feel free to just come in, alright? The building's heated, and I can pull a stool out in front so you can sit by the window if you feel like it."
no subject
For now, they settle on a nod for their response. They need time to figure out where to go if Ginko does call someone, and how to leave a note for Chara about that that won't be easy for anyone else to figure out.

He steps out of the alley and back into the shop. It takes some searching to find his extra blankets, but he gets them gathered up and heads back for the door.
He does stop, for a moment, when he catches sight of the phone on the counter. He guesses most people would say he should call someone, but... he doesn't know why they're out here. He can't be sure that getting them brought back to where they were before wouldn't be worse.
He steps back out the door and into the cold. He can't risk that.
"Here you go."
no subject
"I was jus'...um. Was leavin' a note."

They glance up at Ginko again, nervous, before darting back over to finish writing out their note.
no subject
"I'll go ahead and leave these blankets by the chair in case you need them to warm up, alright? I've got to get set up to open, so just let me know if you need anything."
With that, he'll step behind the counter and crouch down to start going through the stacks of boxes piled on the floor, setting some items on the shelves just behind the counter and pushing others aside.
no subject
After about ten minutes, however, they've relaxed enough to glance outside, and pick up one of the blankets to wrap around them. It's a nice feeling, and they're soft. They know it must look stupid, but...he did say they could.
A musky, strange smell tickles their nose, and Frisk sneezes suddenly and rather loudly. They curl in on themself and stare at Ginko wide-eyed, clutching the blanket tightly around their body.
no subject
"You alright? Wouldn't be surprised if you caught something sitting out there."
no subject
no subject
"You don't have to apologize, you know. You haven't done anything wrong."
no subject
A few more minutes pass before Frisk speaks up again, just as soft as before. "Um, what...what're those for?"
no subject
He shrugs and steps back from the shelf to examine it, then crouches down to take a few more crystals out of one of the boxes. He examines one round, smooth piece of red topaz for a moment before leaning over and setting it on the counter next to Frisk. "Some of 'em are kind of nice just to touch, too. You can hold that if you want to."
no subject
"I-I...'re you sure?" They want to hold it, see how smooth it is and how heavy it might be, but--they shouldn't. "I-I don't...what if I break it?"
