Theoretically, the Moira’s journey wasn’t supposed to be a terribly long one. But things went wrong, and plans changed, and in the end not everyone was willing to wait.

It was Frisk who first suggested that Ginko join them and their family in leaving the ship, setting out on their own to explore the cosmos without worrying about all the drama the Moira seemed to draw to it. Once he had been invited, Ginko didn’t need to be convinced; staying with his friends from the ship, not having the inevitability of departure or abandonment hanging over him, was pretty much the best outcome he could ask for.

It’s been a good few years since then - five or six since they first arrived on the Moira, maybe a year less than that since they departed, and daily life on the smaller ship has settled into a comfortable pattern, allowing many of its inhabitants to be more comfortable than they’ve had the chance to feel in years.
